Classic Groups or the League Phase
Classic Group Stage
Choose the traditional format with eight groups of four. Finish in the top two, then progress through the round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final and final.
League Phase
Choose the modern 36-team format with eight league-phase matches. A high finish earns direct qualification, while positions 9–24 face an additional playoff.
The format affects the route, not the draft controls. Classic groups create a compact opening test; the league phase adds a wider standings race and another qualification boundary. Both culminate in knockout football, where one poor tie can end an otherwise excellent run.
Why Every Champions League Draft Is Different
The team wheel includes champions, finalists, surprise runs and clubs from across Europe.
